Don't look into the sun

The spatial sound installation don't look into the sun deals with the sonification of solar activity. Real-time measurement data of the sun – of solar winds and coronal mass ejections is translated into sound. The installation is an attempt to make the sun acoustically audible. By observing the image data of NASA satellites, the movements of solar flares are analysed. The data values modulate given parameters of sound and generate a dynamic spatial experience. In the exhibition space the sound is heard from a self built suspended metal construction in the shape of an Icosahedron with an omnidirectional 12 channel sound system.
